Usher (Usher Raymond IV) was born on October 14, 1978 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. When he was 12, his family moved to Atalanta. When he was 6 years old, Usher started singing in the church choir. At the age of 14, he got the first attention at a talent show by a record exec. from LaFace Records. The company signed Usher when he was in high school.

Usher's debut album came in 1994, titled "Usher" which was executive produced by P. Diddy. It is reached at No. 167 on the Billboard 200 Album charts, while reached No. 4 on the Heatseeker charts. "Usher" was containing three singles: 'I Think Of You' (No.8 Hot/Hip Hop charts), 'Can U Get Wit It' (No.13 Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts) and 'The Many Ways' (No.42 Hot R&B/Hip Hop Charts).

Usher continued working by recording jingles for Coca-Cola, holidays, and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Usher formed a vocal group "Black Men United", which recorded a song "U Will Know" from the Jason's Lyric soundtrack. This song was his most successful song till the date reaching number 5 of the Hot R&B/hip Hop Charts.

After completing his graduation, Usher produced his second album "My Way". The album was released in 1997. Usher has co-written 6 out of the 9 tracks on the album. It was proved to be his break through album reaching No.1 on the R&B album charts, No.4 on the Billboard 200, and No.13 on the Canadian charts. It's hit singles include "My Way" reached No.2 Billboard Hot 100, "You Make Me Wanna" reached No.1 US R&B, "Nice & Slow" reached No.1 Billboard Hot 100, while "Nice" reached No.12 dance and No.22 Top 40 mainstream. Along with singing Usher has also tried his hand on acting. Usher appeared in TV series "The Bold and the Beautiful", "Moesha", and also appeared in movies "The Faculty" and "She's All That."

In 1999, Usher released a live album called "Live". Although the album was failed to catch the success of "My Way". Usher was going to release his third album called "All About U" in 2001. But the tracks were leaked on Napster (the Internet music sharing service), leading him to record new material for the album. It was released later that year and retitled "8701".

It was named like that for the years of his career at that point i.e form 1987 to 2001. Also it was released on August 7, 2001, or 8/7/01. It becomes a big hit and reached No.1 on in UK and Canada, No.3 on the R&B charts, and No.4 on the Billboard 200. The album contained many hit singles: "Pop Ya Collar", "U Remind Me", "U Got It Bad", "U Don't Have To Call", and "U Turn". Usher got a Grammy Award as Best Male R&B Vocal for 'U Remind Me'. Also keeping himself engaged in acting, Usher appeared in "Texas Rangers" in 2001 and "Geppetto" in 2000.

After three years, his forth album was released on March 23, 2004 titled "Confessions". In the first week of the release, it has sold 1.1 million records, which was the most first-week sales by any R&B artist and was also the highest sales by any artist in three years. "Confessions" reached No.1 on US R&B charts and Internet albums charts, and reached No.2 in Australia. The album contained hit singles include: "Yeah", "Burn", "Confessions Part II", and "My Boo". It was certified 7x platinum in US which has sold over 6 million albums by November 2004. In 2004, Usher was on the top for about half of the year with "Confessions". Year 2004 was the very successful year for Usher's career.

Usher has earned many awards for "Confessions". At the annual Source Hip-Hop Music Awards in Miami on October 11, Usher own the R&B/Rap Collaboration of the Year for "Yeah!" and also own Male R&B Artist of the Year. Also named Top Male Artist by Nordic Music Awards (Oct 25, 2004). Own three Radio Music Awards: Artist of the Year - Hip Hop/Rhythmic Radio, Cingular Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year (Yeah!). At the 32nd annual American Music Awards, he won four awards including Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Album (Confessions) in both Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories. At MTV Europe EMAs in Rome own two awards: Best Male Artist and Best Album (Confessions). He was the only artist who remained atop for about more than a half year (28 weeks) in 2004.

Usher's Personal Life
Usher was engaged with fellow R&B singer Rozonda Thomas, but they broke up in 2004.
