Tonya Harding is a former figure skater now turned as boxer from Portland, Oregon. Tonya was having a tough childhood in an unstable family.

Tonya won the U.S. Figure Skating Championships twice and placed second in the 1991 World Championships. She was the second, and the first American woman, to complete a triple axel jump in competition. Japan's Midori Ito was the first to complete a triple axel jump in the 1989 world championships. Tonya was ssecond and 14 years after Tonya, Kimmie Meissner lands a triple axel.

This Portland figure skater started skating at the age of 4 and at age 5 she won her first competition. She had a very unstable family at her childhood, her mother (LaVona) was allegedly abusive and her father (Al Harding) suffered from physical problems. At the age of 19, Tonya married to Jeff Gillooly, divorced in the summer of 1993 but later reestablished there relationship.

Tonya and his husband became a part of newspaper headlines due to the harmful attack to competitor Nancy Kerrigan at a practice session during the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. After conducting the investigation of the attack, the U.S. Figure Skating Association stripped Harding of her 1994 title and banned her for life from participating in any of its sanctioned events, or from becoming a sanctioned coach.

Now Harding is turned as a boxer, started boxing from the Fox TV Show "Celebrity Boxing". As of Jan 2005 her record is 4-3-0 (1 KO). Tonya has done one movie called 'Breakaway', also appeared in many TV shows one of the HBO comedy hits, Arli$$. She has been the guest on the Rosanne show, The Maury Show, and has twice been interviewed on the Larry King Live show, on CNN. Three books are written on Tonya named Fire on Ice, Women On Ice and Thin Ice.
