Naomi Watts was born on 28 September, 1968 in Shoreham, Kent, England to Peter (sound engineer for Pink Floyd) and Miv Watts. She has one brother Benjamin Watts (photographer). Her parents get separated when she was four years old. When Naomi was 7 her father died and her mother decided to relocate their family to Llangefni, where Naomi lived with her grandparents (Hugh and Nikki Roberts). She lived there until she was 14, later the family moved to Australia in 1982. Her grandma, Nikki, who was an Australian, helps them to get the documentation necessary for Australian citizenship, since then her family were entitled to Australian citizenship.

In Australia she started to attend acting school, where she met to Nicole Kidman her future best friend. Naomi acting career get started from 1986, with small role in "For Love Alone".

But a real breakthrough had yet to come. About a decade she worked with small roles.

A real big role, breakthrough film came in 2001, which is director David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive". "Mulholland Drive" truly a success came for Naomi, where she played a double character. It was "21 Grams" in 2003 that earned Watts her first Academy Award nomination as Best Actress. Since then she was one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood.

Naomi also produced and starred in the film "We Don't Live Here Anymore" (2004), which was well received. Her 2004 projects include "The Assasination of Richard Nixon" with Sean Penn and Don Cheadle and "I Heart Huckabees" with Jude Law and Dustin Hoffman. Along with the sequel to the Ring, "The Ring 2" and "Ellie Parker", she starred in the biggest remake of them all, "King Kong" in 2005. King Kong won high praise and has since grossed more than $400 million dollars worldwide.

Naomi's upcoming movie is "The Painted Veil" with Edward Norton & Liev Schreiber. The film is due out in the fall of 2006.

Naomi is dating actor Liev Schreiber, while she dated actor Heath Ledger for several years. Also she is close friend of fellow Australian actress Nicole Kidman and Benicio Del Toro.
