Mel Gibson was born on 3^rdJanuary 1956, in Peekskill, New York, USA. He was born as Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson. Mel Gibson was the sixth child to parents. His father, Hutton Gibson was a railroad brakeman and mother, Ann Gibson who died in December of 1990. Actor Donal Gibson is Mel Gibson's one of younger brothers.

Mel Gibson was born with a "Horseshoe kidney". His two kidneys are fused at the base into a U shape. Rarely, it may happen in human beings.

At the age of 12, Mel Gibson and his family moved to Sydney, Australia. The reason of shifting is that his father didn't want his boys been drafted to the army and to Vietnam. In Sydney, he attended the National Institute of Dramatic arts. He is a big fan of The Three Stooges.

In 1980, Mel Gibson got married with Robyn Moore. They met through a dating service. They have seven children including Tommy Gibson (born 1999), Milo Gibson (born 1990), Louis Gibson (born 1988), Willie Gibson (born 1985), Edward Gibson and Christian Gibson (born 1982) and Hannah Gibson (born 1980).

After graduation, Mel Gibson began his acting career in Australia with television appearances including "The Sullivans, Cop Shop" and "Punishment". In 1979, Mel Gibson's first movie was released "Mad Max", a low-budget thriller. After this, another movie "Tim" was released. He won the Best Actor awards from the Australian Film Institute for the movie "Tim". In 1984, he worked with the Actor Anthony Hopkins in the movie "The Bounty".

Mel Gibson is well known as actor, director and also as producer. In 1995, he directed and produced one movie "Braveheart". For this movie he recieved two two Academy Awards (Best Director and Best Picture).
