Marilyn Manson-Eat Me Drink Me (2007)

Marilyn Manson is back! One of the most controversary artist returns with a new album Eat Me, Drink Me. This performer is both loved and hated by crowds of fans, but he has his own style and also some qualities. I personally prefer classic rock, but some songs from Manson are also very good. This is a very provocative album full of Marylin’s personal life experiences and hard rock.

Four years since his last studio album, and following up on his highest charting radio single ever (“Personal Jesus”, from Lest We Forget), Marilyn Manson returns with “Eat Me, Drink me”. Art openings, soundtrack appearances, and personal circumstance have grabbed headlines for Manson in recent months, setting the stage for the release of Eat Me, Drink Me, which is unquestionably the artist’s most personal statement yet. Always the provocateur, in what may be the ultimate subversion of the code of aggro-rock, the songs are immediately catchy – all jagged guitar hooks, anthemic choruses, with an overlying glam-rock sheen. Lyrically Manson has never been more riveting, seemingly having enough to draw from in his own life and from society at large to present a fresh, snarling vision.

Brian Hugh Warner (born January 5, 1969), better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is a musician and artist known for his outrageous stage persona and image as the lead singer of the band that bears the same name. His stage name was formed from the names Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson, showing what he considered the ultimate and most disturbing dualism of American culture.

After forming a band called Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids in 1989, he continued to perform and release cassettes — shortening their name to Marilyn Manson in 1992 — until the summer of 1993, when the band drew the attention of Trent Reznor, who at the time had just founded his own record label, Nothing Records. Three of the band’s albums have been awarded platinum certification and three more have been awarded gold, and the band has seen three of its releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums.

Anyways, I used to listen to Manson back in the day, like when Dopehat came out, I don’t care for most of is newer stuff, it’s way too commercialized.

And to be honest what kinda weirdos would listen to this shit.. Even if you “knew” music.. I wouldn’t call this music.. June 14th, 2007 | 17:22

Well I see there are a lot of mature downloaders out there. Are petty and playground insults the way to feel all high and mighty these days? I’m not a major Manson fan, no. Nor do I listen to rap. Does that mean I’m going to post some message with the English skills of a 12-year old? No. Seriously, everyone needs to get a life. Whatever music you like, enjoy it, and shut the hell up.

  23. Rizy
    June 14th, 2007 | 17:34

    They’re both retards.
I’ma chinaman who listens to rap and manson. Eat that.. lol

    June 14th, 2007 | 17:40

This album was released long ago, and it does suck. I bought two of the old CDs (when they were new), but I didn’t even keep the downloaded copy of this one.

    June 14th, 2007 | 17:57

to James #23, tell me… how do you hat someone? What kind of hat do you normally give them? Certain hats don’t suit all people… different head sizes and all. Pretty much like people’s music tastes… they vary… just because they don’t listen to what you listen to doesnt mean you have to hat them! Or do you hat them because they know how to spell?

As people have pointed out. This was released a long time ago. In-fact I kept looking on here waiting for info about it, right until 1 week ago, the 2nd of June actually day before release date.

I decided to do a newzbin search and was gobsmacked to find that it had been released well over a month ago! My girlfriend was also very pissed at me for not getting it sooner.

Very disappointed with rlslog for that, and won’t rely on you for future music release info.

    June 14th, 2007 | 18:43

I dont ever click on the albums that are released on here that i think are complete shit, but i wonder is who clicks on a album to write a comment like: he is gay, he is an idiot blah blah

well whatever you fucking like you like, that is why music is so great, if it wasnt for the 4 big record companies exploiting music, your opinions would be different im sure of it, well thats my opinion.

manson is a very intelligent person who knows whats going on in the world, i dont agree with his style or tendencies towards wanting to be a vampire….

but hey he is fucking rich, and what are you doing, writing on comments on a website like: blah hes gay…

    think about it.

    June 14th, 2007 | 18:58

I often enjoy his music. He’s damn weird, though.

Anathema: This site is usually movies, and does not obviously cover every single release… I sure as hell don’t rely on it for music and neither should you. Check mininova more often and don’t blindly assume that people on a blog will cater to your tastes.

And I’m with mr p in that there is usually music for every taste. Like the guy saying rap is better, and the guy whining about emo (which is just a catchall term nowadays), there are people for everything and everyone else just may criticize you someday and tell you everything you’ve ever loved is complete and utter shit… what will you do then? You’ll continue listening to it, because you enjoy it and that is what counts.

  31. Anathema
    June 14th, 2007 | 19:06

Well this site caters for the majority of my tastes, I was gutted to find that this site was slow on the the rls info of this album, but I will take your advice.

I think this is a good album, I’m not a fan of Manson either, I saw him at Download festival and enjoyed him aswell (which is also a first), I like how he’s emo bashing aswell. My girlfriend who is 21 now, has been a fan of Manson since she was 11, and she thinks its a great album.

Not sure what that tells you, but what the hell, there ya go.

  32. superkick
    June 14th, 2007 | 19:17

i could care less about his music. i dont think its very good in particular. but it is quite amusing to see all you people talk shit about him and how you hope he would die. Say what you want but that “sick motherfucker” must be doing something right because he has made more money than 99.9% of you are ever going to make in your lifetime. its sad you people just cant accept things that don’t fit in with the norm.

  33. June 14th, 2007 | 19:44

DeviulDriver has a new album out I hope it doesnt suck.. there first album was classic.

    June 14th, 2007 | 21:14

THe only kind of losers who like this music are americans and homosexuals.

    June 14th, 2007 | 21:20

Well, well…Very mature comments on this album…dont like him a bit and I feel sick listening to his music. Thats my oppinion..btw

He´s a satanist if you didn´t know that.

It explains it all I think…hehe

    June 14th, 2007 | 22:23

LOL at the idiots in this thread. Not a huge fan of this album but Manson rocks.

  37. ck
    June 14th, 2007 | 22:33

well i think the album really rocks no matter what the haters may say, i have to agree with Martin, he’s the most hated and loved rocker. i think people should judge the music and not the guy/girl and really listen before they start talking a bunch of bull ………….

  38. 24
    June 14th, 2007 | 22:36

Stop with the stupid fanboy flame wars. to each their own.

i’ve only heard one song of Manson (The ex-Theme of WWE SmackDown) and it was pretty good. he’s not god but he’s not THAT bad either. not that i download his songs anyway. his music is good but his gimmick is far too cliche to appeal to a casual audience. plus he’s got this emo-goth thing going on, which is….weird.

Funny no one go the Christ reference… eat the bread and drink the wine in reference to his body and blood. He like to get people to think and give thought to what he is saying… Like him or not he does what art is suppose to do… get a response.

    @ Yuna

Your comment was one of very few that I actually enjoyed reading. So many people on here just want to sling crap at one another. We all have different taste in music, which is a good thing. Why dump on someone else who’s taste vary s from yours? Why even comment on this album unless you got something positive to say in relation to it?

    June 15th, 2007 | 06:57

This post is a month late… and this album is not up to par with any of Manson’s other albums. I had the pleasure of seeing Manson live 13 times in the summer of 2003 while working on the Ozzfest tour, around his artistic peak. I would say this album must’ve been rushed by studio execs. Maybe it would grow on you, but I’ve got better things to listen to!

Marilyn Manson’s new album isn’t his best but he is still an awesome artist and MCR wishes they had his talent. He does his own thing and no one should be punished for that. Plus, he is oober sexy.

im not a full on crazy goth ok so im not just some mental freak who plays the violin on mi wrists but yet im defending marilyn manson…why?
because he is one of the most talented artists around and he is loved all around the world pretty much everyone knows his name and you dont get much more famous than that, espesially when he is only 38.
i am into all music techno

    September 30th, 2007 | 22:21

You haters are wrong. Marilyn manson is more than a singer, artist, beautiful man, poet, songwriter, and all of the other stuff he is, he himself is the antichrist, proclaimed in the bible to bring about the appocolypse. He himself is a god in his own right, and better than any god i know. I pity any fools who disagree with my statements, or who offend my gods beautiful name with blasphemous statements, for they are not even worth a smear of dirt on Mr manson’s boot. As for all the lovers of manson, peace be with you and enjoy yourself’s. to finish, I have to state that noone else makes music, they make inferior crud that they think is music, everyone is far below the standard of marilyn manson

@Grotesque: You are why nobody likes Marilyn Manson. I’m almost embarrassed to tell people that they’re one of my favorite bands because of morons like you. My musical conversations start off with me telling people about my love for Neutral Milk Hotel and Joy Division, and then when I mention Manson I have to explain myself. You know why? Because of stupid mallgoths.
