Maria Sharapova - Biography

A most famous female athlete Maria Sharapova is a former tennis star. Her parents father Yuri Sharapova and mother Yelena was originally lived in Homiel, Belarus. When Maria was of three years old they moved to sochi because of some nuclear accidents.

From the next year i.e at the age of 4 Maria Sharapova started her career in playing tennis, using the racquet gifted to her by father of Yevgeny Kafelnikov. At the age of five or six she was spotted by Martina Navratilova and she requested Maria's parent to give her proper training of tennis in the United States.

At the age of 9 she was moved to United States to get the proper coaching of tennis at Nick Bollettieri's Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida. After joining junior circuit she won the Sacramento, Hilton Head and Pilsen titles, with a record of 25-3 in 2001.

In 2002 Maria Sharapova made a record of 26-3 and won the Vancouver, Peachtree and Gunma titles. She also played three matches in the professional tour and ranked 186 on the WTA charts. In 2003 she made a professional tour and won Quebec City and Japan Open titles.

In the year of 2004 Maria's performance was better and she won few of the titles which includes the coveted Wimbledon's singles title. And ahe begins her career by ranking as #2. She was ranked #1 by the WTA for the first time in August 2005. At U.S. Open she was loosed in semi-final and finished tournament at #4 ranks.

In 2006, Maria Sharapova appeared on six page of bikini photo shoot in the annual magazine which was debuted on Valentine's Day with other 25 scantily-clad supermodels. She was ranked eight among the 100 Sexiest Women in the World in the 2006's list by the FHM magazine.
