Jesse McCartney was born on April 9, 1987 in Westchester County, NY, USA to Scott McCartney and Ginger Sarber. Jesse has one brother, Timothy (Timmy) and one sister Lea Joyce McCartney. Jesse's family is of Scottish, Irish, and English ancestry and is a Born-again Protestant Christian.

At the start Jesse was performing in local community plays with the whole family. At the age of ten, Jesse made his own acting debut with "The King and I". Next Jesse was appeared in "A Christmas Carol". Later Jesse joined the children's group "Sugar Beats" as a vocalist.

Jesse has also played the character J.R. Chandler in "All My Children" running from 1998 to 2001. For this role he was nominated for Daytime Emmy Award as an Outstanding Younger Actor in 2001 and 2002. Also played Bradin Westerly for WB's hit show "Summerland". The series was cancelled in summer of 2005.

When Jesse was 12, he joined the "boy band Dream Street", and remain a member from 2000 to 2002. Jesse later explained that it was a good experience for him and was a "stepping stone" for his solo career. This band received a platinum record with their debut CD, while later the group was broke up.

At the age 16, Jesse started working towards his solo career, with the band including musicians Peter Chema (bass), Dillon Kondor (guitar), Alex Russek (drums), Katie Spencer (keyboards), Sharisse Francisco (background vocals), and Karina LaGravinese (background vocals) under the management of Lauren Stanwick and Sherry Goffin Kondor.

Jesse's first solo EP named "JMac" was released in July, 2003. The album was containing three songs "Beautiful Soul", "Why Don't You Kiss Her", and "Don't You". In 2004, Jesse has sung a duet "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" with Anne Hathaway, which is featured on the Ella Enchanted soundtrack.

Jesse's first full length, long waited solo album "Beautiful Soul" was released in September 28, 2004. This album is containing four songs. Jesse has also co-written the songs of this album. The title son "Beautiful Soul" became the #2 on AOL Music, while its music video have been voted into the top 10 fifty times and received #4 position on MTV. While later in March 2005 it has received a platinum status.

After "Beautiful Soul" Jesse toured US also named "Beautiful Soul". His tour was started from May 2, 2005 at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento, California and ended on September 10 at the Madera District County Fair in Madera, California. He has taken 56 stops in his journey. Also performed at many amusement parks and on several late night talk shows. While in the fall of 2005, he toured in Australia.

Jesse's upcoming projects include a film "Keith", playing a role as Keith along with Margo Harshman and Elisabeth Harnois. The film is due out in 2006. Also preparing a song, "Blow Your Minds", which will goin to relese as a single in June of 2006. While the album will release in September 12th, 2006. He is playing as a voice actor for Roxas for the video game Kingdom Hearts II.
