Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, USA on May 16th, 1966 in America's greatest musical family. Janet was youngest of 9 children in her father Joseph and mother Katherine Jackson family. When Janet was born her older brothers was already started performing together as the Jackson 5(J5) band including the king of pop Michel Jackson. At the age of seven Janet Jackson started performing on the stage with Jackson 5 in Las Vegas in 1973.

At the age of ten Janet Jackson started her acting career, when producer Norman Lear selected Janet to join the cast of Good Times. In 1982 Janet Jackson's first album was released by her father on AM. In 1983 Janet performed in musical serial Fame. Janet's second album "Dream Street" performed poor as compared to her first album, but she didn't get depressed.

Upto the age of 18 Janet was under supervision of her family members. Janet Jackson left her family by marrying singer James DeBarge but this relation didn't continued more than a year and she moved back to her father. Janet's father appoints new manager John McClain for her, who trained her as a dancer. At the age of 19 John McClain appointed producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to furnish her music career.

Within a months, Jackson, Jam & Lewis launched the smash hit record "Control", in 1986 including her first number one single "When I Think Of You", "What Have You Done For Me Lately", "Nasty". Janet imparted an hasty image, with songs about empowerment and independence. Janet Jackson abruptly found a nickname that would suit her throughout her entire career, from a single lyric, "No my first name ain't baby, it's Janet, Miss Jackson, if you're nasty." The line was found on the hit single, "Nasty". Jackson is still referred to as "Miss Janet".

In 1995, Janet and Michael worked together for the single award wining video "Scream". It was the most expensive music video ever made. In next year janet signed a record $70-million, five-album deal with Virgin Records. The Velvet Rope album showed her skills and reflected her hard working nature. She released many albums for creating awareness about social problems like domestic abuse, AIDS, and homophobia.
