Anthony Hopkins was born on 31st December 1937 in Port Talbot, Wales. He is born as Philip Anthony Hopkins but after that he is well known by Sir Anthony Hopkins. His father called him "Charlie" while his grandmother always called him "George". But personally he Likes to be called "Tony."

Anthony Hopkins's father, Richard Arthur Hopkins was a baker and he died on March 30, 1981. And his mother, Muriel Anthony Hopkins was born in 1913. He is having three marriages in his life. In September 1967, he was married with Petronella Parker and was divorced in 1972. From his first marriage, he has a daughter, Abigail Hopkins who was born in 1968. Second time, he with Jennifer Lynton in January 1973 and was divorced in 2003. And in March 2003, he married with Stella Arroyave.

At the age of fifteen, he met Welshman Richard Burton, who influenced and encouraged him to become an actor. In childhood, he studied in the 'Welsh College of Music and Drama' as he wanted to become a pianist. But then he realized that he had a talent in acting and so he joined "The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art" in London.

In 1965, Laurence Olivier spotted him and invited to join the National Theatre. Hopkins got a great success over there but then he tired because of same roles. After that in 1968, he got a chance in the movie "The Lion in Winter". After this he played many famous historical and fictional characters including John Quincy Adams, William Bligh, Charles Dickens, John Frost, Bruno Hauptmann, Abraham Van Helsing, Adolf Hitler, etc..

In October 1997, he was Ranked #57 in Empire (UK) magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list. In 1999, he was selected by an Entertainment Weekly on-line movie poll as the Best Modern Actor and the Best Villain for his role as Hannibal Lecter. In January 2001, Anthony Hopkins was ranked second in the Orange Film Survey of the greatest British films actors.
