The world's best known female athlete Anna Kurnikova was born in Moscow, Russia, on 7th June 1981. She graduated from a Russian high school in 1997. She was very much interested in playing tennis from the age of 5. By seeing her interest in tennis her parents Mr. Sergei and Mrs. Alla Kurnikova sold their TV to buy a tennis racquet, her first gift for the Christmas.

Sergei Kournikova was a lecturer at the sports university in Moscow and a part time tennis coach. Anna's parent refers to her "Murzik" in Russia it means "my little pet". They also encourage their daughter Anna to take part in the physical activities form her childhood.

When she was nine years old she played in the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, and got an opportunity to train at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida. After that at the age of 13 she played in the Rolex Orange Bowl tournament and was lost by 18 year old Spaniard Marion Ramon. But the next year she was the youngest ever winner of a Federation Cup match. By the end of 1995 she become a ITF Junior World Champion and ranked 1st in the junior game.

In 1997 she reached in the semi-final at Wimbledon. Then in 1999 she started paying with Martina Hingis in doubles and they won a grand slam title in partnership in the year 1999 and 2002. Anna Kurnikova proved herself a successful doubles player by wining 16 doubles titles. But at her final years her ranking goes down because of back injuries. And because of that she has not played on WTA tour since 2003. But she played the exhibition matches for charitable causes.

Rather she is not become worlds best tennis player but she gained popularity because of her good looking face. She entered in the world of modeling and done advertisements for Adidas, Berlei the famous sports bra, Yonex, Lycos, and Omega. In 2000 she played a small role of mottle manager in Jim Carrey's film Me, Myself and Irene.
